Business Management Part-Time Instructor
University of California, Riverside – University Extension
In the Heart of Inland Southern California, UC Riverside is located on nearly 1,200 acres near Box Springs Mountain in Southern California; the park-like campus provides convenient access to the vibrant and growing Inland region. The campus is a living laboratory for the exploration of issues critical to growing communities’ air, water, energy, transportation, politics, the arts, history, and culture. UCR gives every student, faculty and staff member the resources to explore, engage, imagine and excel.
University Extension is the continuing and professional education division of the University of California, Riverside offering programs and certificates to domestic and international students. University Extension is seeking experienced professionals to join our instructional team as part-time instructors for adult learners. Successful candidates of this recruitment will be eligible to teach courses as they are scheduled during the year for our Business Management Program, Entrepreneurship Program, and Micro MBA program. In these programs students are trained to develop their abilities to apply innovative business management principles to businesses and organizations to increase their ROI. We are seeking instructors with deep practical expertise in business strategy and operations who can teach students how to analyze market trends and build scalable models. Candidates must have proven experience navigating complex organizational challenges to instill strong strategic leadership and problem-solving capabilities in their classrooms. Additionally, instructors should be adept at communication and pitch coaching, mentoring learners on how to effectively present innovative solutions to stakeholders and investors. Ultimately, the successful candidate will leverage their pedagogical skills to facilitate a dynamic, project-based curriculum that imparts essential financial, operational, and leadership concepts across the entire business lifecycle. These in-person and online programs include the following courses:

Marketing Principles and the Marketing Plan
Financial Reporting
International Finance
Entrepreneurial Sales and Marketing
Finance for Entrepreneurs
Managing Entrepreneurial Operations
Micro MBA
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Provide instruction in accordance with the established instructional agreement, curriculum outlines, and class schedule provided by University Extension.
• Communicate teaching objectives and specific learning outcomes to students and clearly outline the grading policies to the course.
• Design interactive and motivational classroom activities that support the instruction of student learning objectives with a communicative aim to fully engage participants and reinforce student learning.
• Work in conjunction with collaborative partners and subject matter experts in order to ensure that course information is current.
• Participate in scheduled orientations, meetings, and mandatory training programs by UCR’s established deadlines.
• Create course shell, maintain timely and accurate academic records within the learning management system, and submit timely and accurate documentation as well as student grades as outlined in the instructional agreement.

• Maintain appropriate standards of professional conduct.
• Attend scheduled pre-program class-planning meeting.
• Attend scheduled instructor meetings and in-services.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
• Advanced degree in Business, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Five years of related work experience.
• Experience with computer-aided instructions and learning management systems (i.e., CANVAS).
• Proficiency in English suitable to the position.
• Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, organizational skills.
• Ability to provide instruction in-person and online.
• Ability to successfully complete a background check prior to start date.
• Authorization to work in the United States.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Experience teaching adult learners.
• Preference will be given to UCR Graduate students who are ABD, UCR graduates, and UCR Lecturers.
• Ability to teach a wide range of courses in the field of expertise.
• Experience with Curriculum development and course design.
• Proven record of contributions to a supportive team environment
• Experience teaching online courses using Canvas.
OPTIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
• Course development in Business Management or Entrepreneurship related areas.
Compensation for Extension courses is $75 per hour of instruction
Application Information:
The purpose of this continuous recruitment is to build a pool of instructors who can be scheduled to teach courses as they are scheduled. Applications will be reviewed on a continuous basis. The interview process may include a teaching demonstration.
Employment Information:
Instructional agreements are made on a course-by-course basis at the discretion of the University with no guarantee to teach future courses. This part-time position is not eligible for benefits, but participates in the University of California Defined Contribution Plan.
