Position description
The University of California Riverside, Department of Economics, invites applications for a tenure-track faculty appointment in Microeconomic Theory at the Assistant Professor level. The successful candidate would have a state-of-the-art research program in any area of microeconomic theory.
Applicants should show potential for engaging in outstanding research and developing excellence in teaching graduate and undergraduate students. Applicants must be ABD or have met the requirements for the Ph.D. in Economics or a related field by the time of appointment on July 1, 2025.

The posted UC salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and/or step at appointment. See Table(s): https://www.ucop.edu/academic-personnel-programs/_files/2024-25/oct-2024-scales/t3.pdf. Salary ranges for this position are: $103,700-$129,600. “Off-scale salaries” and other components of pay, i.e., a salary that is higher than the published system-wide salary at the designated rank and step, are offered when necessary to meet competitive conditions.
Advancement through the faculty ranks at the University of California is through a series of structured, merit-based evaluations, occurring every 2-3 years, each of which includes substantial peer input. Assistant Professors are required to undergo a mandatory 7th-year review for promotion to Associate Professor, although this can occur earlier.
