Position description

The Department of Bioengineering at the University of California, Riverside (UCR) invites applications for a part-time or full-time lecturer position beginning in the 2024/2025 academic year. The successful candidate is expected to be able to teach at all levels of the bioengineering undergraduate curriculum. This includes an introductory seminar series and design courses at both the sophomore- and senior levels.

The department offers BS, BS/MS, MS, and PhD degrees, with a current enrollment of 75 graduate and 350 undergraduate students. The BS degree program in Bioengineering was fully accredited by ABET in 2011. Students in the BS program have among the highest entrance scores for the university and receive highest honors and distinction at national-level design competitions such as the NIH Design by Biomedical Undergraduate Teams (DEBUT) Challenge. Further, eight BS graduates have received the prestigious NSF Graduate Fellowship in the last few years. The faculty includes Fellows of BMES, AIMBE, and AAAS. Thus, the successful lecturer will be expected to help maintain our trajectory of excellence.

Outstanding candidates should have either a Master’s or PhD degree in bioengineering or a related field, or an equivalent B.S. degree with bioengineering industrial experience and one year of substantial teaching experience.

Salary for the Fall quarter begins October 1, 2024 and ends December 31, 2024; the Winter quarter begins January 1, 2025 and ends March 31, 2025; the Spring quarter begins April 1, 2025 and ends June 30, 2025; the academic service period for Fall quarter begins September 23, 2024 through December 13, 2024; Winter quarter begins January 2, 2025 through March 21, 2025; Spring begins March 26, 2024 and ends June 13, 2025. The starting salary will be $81,492 based on a full-time appointment. Lecturer appointments are eligible for renewal depending on need, funding, and performance.
