Position description

The UCR School of Medicine invites nominations and applications for the position of Chair of Family Medicine. The incumbent will report to the Vice Chancellor and Dean, UCR School of Medicine, and will be responsible for the overall management of the department including, strategic planning, financial and budgetary planning and accountability, performance improvement, resource allocation, program development, recruitment, and development of faculty, and for the management of the educational, clinical and research activities of the Department. This position will also provide leadership and direction in meeting the mission of the School of Medicine.

The successful applicant must qualify for an academic appointment in one of the following series: Ladder Rank Professor, Professor of Clinical X or Health Sciences Clinical Professor series at the full professor rank for the position of Chair of Family Medicine.

The Department of Family Medicine fully aligns with and embraces the SOM mission to train a diverse physician workforce and to deliver clinical and research programs that serve the medically underserved in the Inland Southern California region. Faculty play important roles in the undergraduate medical education program and provide role models and training for students considering the specialty. In addition, the family medicine residency provides additional primary care GME placements in the region, toward the overarching goal of growing the physician workforce. The department provides clinical care at UCR Health Citrus tower and through professional service agreements.

The successful candidate must possess an MD degree or both MD and PhD degrees, or equivalent degrees, and current board certification in Family Medicine as well as meet the eligibility requirements for a medical license in the State of California. A successful candidate must demonstrate the ability to work successfully with and benefit a diverse student body. Candidate must demonstrate scholarly activity, evidenced by peer reviewed publications and extramural funding. The successful candidate must possess an excellent clinical record of expertise and a strong commitment to medical student and resident education. Finally, the candidate must demonstrate appropriate administrative and operational experience and a proven record of clinical, academic, and administrative leadership qualities. Rank will be determined based on qualifications and experience.

Basic qualifications (required at time of application)
