Position description

The University of California, Riverside (UCR) School of Medicine invites applications for a Psychiatry Residency Training Director in the Department of Psychiatry and Neurosciences. Psychiatry Residency Training Director will be responsible for the development and implementation of innovative models of training, curriculum development, and scholarship, including:

• Operational oversight on a variety functions, including clinical rotations, didactics, assessment, advising, psychotherapy training, research, and scholarship.
• Operational oversight for residents comprehensive clinical educational experience
• Create and engage in high-quality educational programs
• Strategic planning and development in graduate medical education.
• Operational oversight on resident well-being, inclusion, and belonging
• Operational oversight on resident recruitment, orientation, training, duty hours, and evaluations
• Operational compliance with ACGME standards of curriculum, trainee competency, evaluation and feedback, and policy development and implementation
• Serve as a national leader for innovative training models in psychiatric education
• Coordinate with clinical leadership across affiliate training sites to ensure compliance
• Provide clinical services and direct supervision of residents in inpatient and/or outpatient settings

Founded in 2013, the School of Medicine at UCR is the sixth University of California Medical School. We serve the rapidly growing Inland Southern California region by training a much-needed physician workforce and catalyzing innovations in research, education, and healthcare delivery. Advancement and promotion at the UCR is through a series of structured, merit-based evaluations, occurring every 2-3 years, each of which includes substantial peer input.

The successful applicant must qualify for an academic appointment in a Professor (Ladder Rank), Professor of Clinical X, or Health Sciences Clinical series at the associate or full professor rank. The successful candidate must possess an M.D. or equivalent degree, possess Board Certification with the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, and have five (5) or more years of leadership and administrative experience in an ACGME-accredited training program(s). The successful candidate will be expected to show a strong communication skills, leadership ability, and a commitment to the education of medical students, residents, and fellows. Additional qualifications include the demonstration of outstanding academic accomplishments and trajectory which may include innovative educational program development, excellence in teaching, clinical leadership, and research or scholarly work. The incumbent will have a concurrent academic appointment in the Department of Psychiatry and Neurosciences and is expected to participate in teaching, service, and research, or scholarly activities. Series and rank will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
