Position description

The Department of Entomology at the University of California, Riverside invites applicants for a full-time Assistant Project Scientist to conduct applied research for the Raikhel Lab. The purpose of this position is to perform research in relation to mosquito microRNA and to study the roles of Insulin-like peptides (ILPs) in determination of body size and lipid deposition in mosquitoes. The final candidate will utilize advanced genetic approaches, such as CRISPR-Cas9, in this research. Some supervisory and training responsibilities will accompany the research activities (specifically with molecular biological techniques, including transgenic and CRISPR approaches). The selected candidate is expected to assist Postdoctoral researchers, students, and Visiting Scholars in the Raikhel laboratory in solving experimental differences.

Basic qualifications for this position include: Ph.D. in Molecular Biology and/or Entomology, demonstrated skills in molecular biological and genetic techniques, and experience with the CRISPR/Cas9 approach in mosquitoes.

Preferred qualifications for this position include: knowledge in scientific literature, outstanding work ethics, supervisory experience, and prior scientific publications.
