Position description

The Department of Political Science of the University of California, Riverside, invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in political methodology.

The department seeks applicants from all subfields of political methodology. Strong candidates will make significant contributions to political methodology and seek to address important substantive questions in political science. The successful candidate should be committed to excellence in undergraduate and graduate education and have a record or promise of research publication. Ph.D. is. preferred; candidates who are ABD at the time of application will be considered. Appointment level and salary will be competitive and commensurate with education and experience. The appointment will commence on July 1, 2020. Minimum basic qualification (must be met by time of application).

Advancement through the faculty ranks at the University of California is through a series of structured, merit-based evaluations, occurring every 2-3 years, each of which includes substantial peer input.

Faculty in the University of California are expected to engage in research, teaching and service. Typical course load is four classes over the academic year.

Applicants will be required to submit a cover letter of interest that describes their research and training, CV, writing samples, teaching evidence/evaluations, Statement of Past and/or Planned Future Contributions to Advancing Diversity and Inclusive Excellence, and 3 letters of reference. Confidential Letters are solicited via the AP Recruit System Only – Applicant inserts reference names and solicits references from within AP Recruit at time of application. Only completed applications that include the letters of reference may be reviewed by the committee.
