Position description

The Department of Philosophy at the University of California, Riverside invites applications for Assistant Professor, tenure track in the following areas – AOS: Core areas of analytic philosophy such as Philosophy of Action, Philosophy of Language, Philosophy of Mind, or Epistemology.

Position responsibilities include graduate and undergraduate teaching, 4 courses per year on the quarter system, thesis supervision, and standard non-teaching duties. A Ph.D. in Philosophy is required at time of appointment as well as compelling evidence of commitment to publication and research. The successful candidate must be committed to teaching effectively at all levels, including graduate mentoring. Salary will be commensurate with education and experience. Appointment will be effective July 1, 2019.

Complete applications must include a cover letter of interest, current CV, sample of research, evidence of teaching excellence/teaching evaluations, a statement of contribution to diversity, and at least three letters of recommendation. Review of applications will begin November 16, 2018 and may continue until filled. Applicants should submit their materials by that date to be assured of full consideration. We will not interview at the Eastern APA, but will conduct Skype interviews in mid- to late December or early January.
