Academic Coordinator II - Stem Cell Core

The Stem Cell Center at the University of California, Riverside, invites applications for an Academic Coordinator II position in our Stem Cell Core Facility. This full-time, fiscal-year position is initially for one year, with possibility of reappointment contingent on funding.
The Stem Cell Core provides state-of-the-art equipment and culture space for users.
Candidates must have a PhD in the life sciences with training in stem cell biology. Experience in pluripotent stem cell culture is required. Successful candidates will have at least 2 years of experience in cell culture.
Candidates with experience in teaching and administration will be given preference.
The Academic Coordinator will be involved in expanding services currently offered by the Core and will contribute directly to the future development of the Core, including acquisition of new equipment. The Academic Coordinator will work independently with supervision from the Director of the Stem Cell Center.
The incumbent will oversee day-to-day operation of the Stem Cell Core and its staff, ensure all equipment is dependably maintained, register and train new users, check out equipment, maintain accurate, detailed records to track all users, equipment, and expenses; provide advice/consultation to users who need help designing experiments, and order supplies. The Academic Coordinator will bill for and track product sales, participate in and assist with logistics and promotion for outreach and events, maintain the Core’s website, assist with grant writing, prepare patent disclosures and applications, and teach in the lab portion of the human embryonic stem cell culture class (CMDB 211). The Stem Cell Core has many legal and compliance issues not found in other facilities; the Academic Coordinator must ensure all users are in compliance with MTAs, committee requirements, and procedural issues related to stem cell use.
