Assistant Professional Researcher in Geodynamics
We seek an experienced professional researcher (at the Assistant Researcher level) who will perform basic research in earthquake rupture dynamics, geodesy, and educational technology. The successful candidate will collaborate with our faculty and students to carry out original research in these areas. The candidate will be responsible for funding his/her salary and benefits through successful external grant applications.
Candidates must have a Ph.D. in geophysics or related field, with experience within the field of geodynamics, experience with 3D dynamic earthquake rupture modeling, experience with geodetic data and analysis, experience and expertise in finite element meshing and modeling, experience in educational technology, including three-dimensional representations of complex structures, and proven track record of successful grant funding and publication of work in peer-reviewed journals. The most successfully candidate has university experience with faculty and students carrying out original research, experience in mentoring/co-mentoring undergraduate and graduate students, experience with cutting-edge finite element meshing software (e.g., TRELIS), and experience with cutting-edge scientific visualization software (e.g., Paraview)
