The laboratory of Dr. Sarjeet Gill in the Department of Molecular, Cell, and Systems Biology at the University of California, Riverside invites applications for a full-time Assistant Project Scientist specializing in the area of molecular entomology.

The successful candidate will engage in research to elucidate the molecular mechanisms of mosquitocidal toxins from bacteria, in particular Bacillus thuringiensis israelensis and address mechanisms of mosquito tolerance or resistance to these bacterial toxins. The incumbent must be able to conduct research independently; in conjunction with the PI help manage the lab and supervise graduate students; present research at conferences; publish papers in top peer-reviewed journals; and assist in grant applications.

Required Qualifications: A Ph.D. in a biological science with at least five-year postdoctoral experience is required. The qualified candidates should have significant experience in biochemistry, molecular biology and microbiology.

Preferred Qualifications: Previous experience on novel genome editing tools in mosquitoes and/or the generation of transgenic mosquitoes.
