The Department of Mathematics invites applications for an Associate Professor of Teaching Mathematics or Professor of Teaching Mathematics (also officially known as Lecturer with Security of Employment, LSOE), beginning July 1, 2018. The position parallels the tenured faculty series, with a focus on teaching, curriculum, and instructional development. A PhD in Mathematics and an outstanding record of teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels is required. The successful candidate will have a sustained record of excellence in curricular development, leadership in undergraduate research, and other undergraduate co-curricular mathematics activities.

Duties will include, teaching 6 quarter courses per year, curricular development, leading undergraduate research and other enrichment programs for the mathematics major. Publication of pedagogical innovations, assessment methods, or original mathematics in high-quality peer-reviewed journals will be encouraged. Advancement through the faculty ranks at the University of California is through a series of structured, merit-based evaluations, occurring every 2-3 years, each of which includes substantial peer input.
