Position description

The purpose of this position is to develop an integrated research program to study the compatibility and efficiency of nematicidal seed and soil treatments with biological control agents. The microbial focus is on Poschnia chlamydosporia and Pasteuria spp. Isolations, identification and evaluation of new strains as well as their compatibility with novel nematicides. This will involve laboratory, greenhouse and field trials. Experience in conducting such trials is crucial. The candidate has to be able to identify nematode-destroying fungi as well as nematode communities present in the soil.

Basic qualifications; The candidate must have a Ph.D or equivalent degree in Nematology or Plant Pathology, at least 2 years of Postdoctoral training in a relevant discipline and publications related to this job description. Experience in conducting greenhouse and field trials with nematicides and biological control agents is crucial.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience in isolation, identification, and evaluation of strains of Pochonia chlamydosporia and Pasteuria spp. A California Drivers License and a California Qualified Applicator license.
