The Electrical and Computer Engineering Department of the Bourns College of Engineering is leading an open faculty search in the areas of computational and theoretical electronic and magnetic materials to support our interdisciplinary, experimental activities. Particular areas of interest are (1) topological phenomena, spintronics, and magnonics (2) electronic excited-state behavior; (3) materials with strongly correlated electrons and (4) high-throughput materials modeling and materials informatics. Demonstrated collaborations with experimental groups are preferred. Exceptional experimentalists working in areas (1) or (3) will also be considered.

A PhD in a relevant area at the time of employment is a minimum requirement. Candidates must have published research of the highest quality and demonstrate exceptional promise for, or a proven record of, high quality research and teaching, securing external funding, collaborating across disciplines, and working successfully to benefit a diverse student body. Salary will commensurate with education and experience. The position will begin July 1, 2018.

Advancement through the faculty ranks at the University of California is through a series of structured, merit-based evaluations, occurring every 2-3 years, each of which includes substantial peer input.
