Position: Visiting Assistant Professor in Classical Studies

Starting Date: Winter Quarter instruction begins January 8, 2018; Spring Quarter ends June 15, 2018

Salary: Present salary per course is $ 10,000.00 (100% employment) Appointment is eligible for renewal depending on need, funding and performance. (Pending budget approval)

Qualifications:
Minimum requirements are a PhD Degree in Classics; advanced knowledge of Classical Latin and Greek as well as teaching experience in a University context. Priority will be given to candidates with experience and success in teaching all levels of Latin and Classical civilization at an American university.

Duties:
Duties will consist of the instruction of 2 courses in winter 2018, and 2 courses in spring 2018 pending enrollment and funding. The successful candidate will teach a Latin author at the advanced level (LATN 101), a Greek author at the advanced level (GRK 101), and a lower-division and an upper-division course in Classical Greek and Roman civilization. Duties also include research, contributing to service associated with membership in departmental program committees, and graduate student mentoring. Reappointment is possible; excellence in language teaching is required.
