Position description

The Department of Mechanical Engineering and the Materials Science and Engineering Program at the University of California, Riverside invites applications for a faculty position (Open Rank) beginning the 2016/17 academic year. Exceptional candidates in all areas of mechanical engineering will be considered, with preference given to those with interdisciplinary expertise in:

Advanced materials, with emphasis on the development of techniques that allow synthesis and processing of novel materials with properties that significantly exceed the state-of-the-art, and thus, serve as critical enablers for applications including, but not limited to energy, aerospace, transportation, electronics, biology, and/or healthcare.

Senior candidates will be expected to have a proven record of exceptional research, teaching, and graduate student training, while junior candidates need to show potential for exceling in these areas. Both should have the clear potential for complementing and/or synergistically leveraging existing research activities within the department, program, college, or campus.

A Ph.D. in ME, MSE, or a closely related field is required at the time of employment. The successful candidate will receive primary appointment within ME; however, they will also maintain formal affiliation with the MSE Program, and opportunity may exist for additional affiliations with other departments and programs as appropriate.
