Position description

The Graduate School of Education (GSOE) at the University of California, Riverside is seeking an outstanding scholar to join its higher education administration and policy area. We invite applications and nominations for tenure-track or tenured (open rank) positions in the area of Higher Education Administration and Policy. The position will commence on July 1, 2015 or as negotiated.

Qualifications include expertise and demonstrated capacity for conducting research and teaching in two or more of these or related areas of higher education: low-income and/or minority student access and success (K-12 college pipeline, college choice, stratification, links between income inequality and college access and completion); efficacy and effectiveness of student supports and services; and access and success of nontraditional students (returning adults, veterans). Applicants with research expertise in higher education assessment and/or teaching and learning in STEM disciplines are particularly welcome. We are looking for established or emerging scholars, with either considerable potential for or success in obtaining extramural research grants, and with strong skills in research methods, especially quantitative methods. We expect commitment to and demonstrated excellence in quality graduate teaching and student mentoring and commitment to diversity in education. An earned doctorate in Economics, Political Science, Sociology, Higher Education, or another related discipline is a requirement. Academic rank will be contingent upon the individual's level of accomplishments in scholarly activity, as well as experience securing and directing grants, teaching, mentoring graduate students, and service. Salary and research support will be commensurate with an appointment within the University of California system. UC-Riverside was ranked second among all universities in the nation in 2014 by the Washington Monthly based on contribution to the public good in three areas: social mobility, research, and service.

Review of the applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled. To ensure full consideration, applications and supporting material should be received by January 5, 2015.

Inquiries should be directed to Professor John S. Levin, Chair of the Search Committee for Higher Education, johnlev@ucr.edu.

The University of California is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
