Position description

The UCR School of Public Policy (SPP) and the College of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences (CHASS) invite applications for a tenured appointment in health policy. The appointment will be at the Associate or Full Professor rank and will be shared jointly between the SPP and a relevant CHASS department (e.g., Anthropology, Economics, Political Science or Sociology). We are looking for candidates with a research record and policy relevance in health policy, especially as it intersects with environmental policy or social policy (including education, inequality, poverty, and immigration). We welcome expertise with respect to domestic and/or international contexts. For those doing international work, we are especially interested in those seeking to apply methods and lessons from around the world to health policy issues as they play out in inland Southern California.

Applicants should have an established record of outstanding research accomplishment and teaching; they will be expected to teach and guide the research of master’s and doctoral students, to be committed to a cutting-edge research program that has direct implications for policy reform, and to help develop the new School of Public Policy. Other relevant connections include the UCR School of Medicine, the Center for Healthy Communities, and the UC Global Health Initiative including One Health Center and the Center of Excellence in Migrant Health. In addition, University of California, Riverside (UCR) has the most diverse student body of all UC campuses and is one of the few research universities in the country that also qualifies as a Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI).

Applicants must have a Ph.D. in a related discipline, such as public policy, anthropology, economics, sociology or political science. Salary will be competitive and commensurate with education and experience. The appointment will commence on July 1, 2015.

Applications should include a letter of interest, a CV, names and contact information of 5 references, and a sample of relevant research work. All materials must be uploaded using UCR’s on-line application system located at https://recruit.ap.ucr.edu.
