Associate Dean for Career Advising, Admissions, and Recruitment
Open Faculty Position – Associate, or Full Professor Rank
The University of California, Riverside (UCR) School of Medicine invites applications for an Associate Dean for Career Advising, Admissions, and Recruitment in the Office of Student Affairs. Reporting to the Executive Associate Dean for Student Affairs, this position provides oversight of the Office of Career and Residency Advising (OCRA), the Office of MD Admissions, and recruitment for the MD program in collaboration with the admissions committee and Pathway Programs. Essential functions include:
• In consultation with the Executive Associate Dean for Student Affairs, oversee operations, evaluation and continuous quality improvement for the Office of Career and Residency Advising (OCRA) and the Office of MD Admissions.
• Provide career and residency advising for students throughout their medical school career including taking the lead during SOAP week, orientations, and tracking student engagement .
• Oversee the Clinical Faculty Career Advising program including program effectiveness and training.
• Develop and implement an evaluation process to determine effectiveness of and satisfaction with the Career and Residency Advising and identify interventions to achieve continuous quality improvement of the program.
• Serve as the executive leader for the Office of MD admissions.
• Oversee a comprehensive recruitment effort to MD admissions in collaboration with Pathway Programs, BioMed Graduate Program, and other critical constituents.
• Utilize reports, surveys, evaluations, and other assessment mechanisms to inform a continuous improvement model that drives attracting and selecting mission fit students to MD admissions.
• In collaboration with the Executive Associate Dean for Student Affairs and Director of Pathway Programs, develop, evaluate, and seek external funds to support the pathway to MD acceptance.
• Be the LCME lead for Career and Residency Advising, Admissions, and Recruitment in collaboration with administrative leads for each unit and the Executive Associate Dean for Student Affairs.
• Foster the scholarship production of each unit to disseminate innovative and effective practices regionally and nationally.
• Oversee the reporting of data internally and externally including standardized data available to the public, UCOP, LCME, website content, and other data request.
• Provide administrative support to other areas as deemed necessary for strategic alignment, and unit integration.

The successful applicant must qualify for an academic appointment in a Professor (Ladder Rank), Professor of Clinical X, or Health Sciences Clinical series at the associate or full professor rank. The successful candidate must possess an M.D. or D.O. degree, possess Board Certification and have five (5) or more years of leadership and administrative experience in admissions, career advising and recruitment. The successful candidate will be expected to show strong communication skills, leadership ability, and an organized and evidence-based approach to the education of medical students. Additional qualifications include the demonstration of outstanding academic accomplishments and trajectory which may include innovative educational program development, excellence in teaching, clinical leadership, and research or scholarly work. The incumbent will have a concurrent academic appointment in an appropriate clinical department and is expected to participate in teaching, service, and research, or scholarly activities. Series and rank will be determined based on qualifications and experience. The posted UC salary scales (https://www.ucop.edu/academic-personnel-programs/compensation/index.html ) set the minimum pay determined by rank and step at appointment. See Table 5 for the salary range. The budgetary range for this position is $115,100 - $305,900. This position includes membership in the health sciences compensation plan (https://somacademicaffairs.ucr.edu/sites/g/files/rcwecm2346/files/2021-02/2021-02-11HSCP%20Plan.pdf), which may provide eligibility for additional compensation. Finally, the candidate must demonstrate appropriate administrative experience and a proven record of academic and administrative leadership qualities.
