Position description
The Childhood Cognition Lab (www.childcoglab.org) at the University of California, Riverside is inviting applications for a 2-year full-time Post-Doctoral Researcher to join the Developing Belief Network (Project Directors: Rebekah Richert and Kathleen Corriveau) beginning June 1, 2023. A 5-year John Templeton Foundation grant funds the development of a research initiative designed to bring together a network of scholars interested in cross-cultural study of the development of religious cognition and behavior. This Post-Doctoral Researcher will have the exciting opportunity to work with an international network of scholars to build a collaborative research methodology, which will involve training in cross-cultural validation of measures and collection of an expansive and global data set on the development of supernatural beliefs in the first 10 years of life.
The Post-Doctoral Researcher will be an active member of a team, working collaboratively with PIs Richert and Corriveau, as well as with a Core Leadership Team composed of a Post-Doctoral Project Manager, a Post-Doctoral Researcher and Research Scientist at Boston University and with representatives from Databrary. The Post-Doctoral Researcher will work closely with 4 research teams (their home institution plus 3 others) to coordinate with site PIs on task translation and in training and implementation of data collection. In addition, the Post-Doctoral Researcher will take a lead role in data collection at UC Riverside and will oversee data collection in the Yucatán. The Post-Doctoral Researcher additionally will lead data analysis and manuscript writing as data are collected. Time permitting, the scholar will also be encouraged to develop and conduct independent research. Annual salary range for this position is $60,082 - $64,566 and will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Competitive applicants will posess experience coordinating a project that involves multiple individuals with varying levels of expertise; excellent written and oral communication skills; proficiency with statistical analysis; and experience working with people from a variety of cultural backgrounds. Fluency in Spanish is a preferred qualification.
