Salary range: $11,600 per quarter. Positions are contingent upon funding.

Position description

Position: Visiting Assistant Professor of Fiction. Low Residency MFA, Palm Desert CA

Starting Date:

Fall Quarter instruction begins: September 22, 2022, and ends December 11, 2022

Fall Residency begins: December 2, 2022 and concludes December 11, 2022

Winter Quarter instruction begins January 9, 2023, and ends March 17, 2023

Salary:

$11,600 per quarter (pending budgetary approval)

Open until filled. We welcome applicants experienced in teaching students from groups historically underrepresented in higher education, such as students of color, LGBTQ+ students, and students with disabilities.

Qualifications:

Minimum requirements are an MFA. Experience and success in teaching; experience in playwriting and screenwriting; and one published book.

Priority will be given to applicants who have two published books, experience in teaching students from groups historically underrepresented in higher education, expertise in Genre Fiction - Crime, Sci-Fi/Fantasy, Horror, YA or Middle Grade expertise, and experience in the Low Residency Model.

Duties:

The candidate will teach three classes in Fall & Winter Quarter: CWLR 211 – Low Residency Genre Workshop, CWLR 221 – Low Residency Cross-Genre Workshop and CWLR 201 – Low Residency Seminar in Literature, courses are small to encourage one-to-one attention. CWLR 211 & CWLR 201 will be in Fiction. CWLR 221 will be in either playwriting or screenwriting. Candidate will also advise graduate students, and lecture and lead in-person workshops during the Fall Residency, between December 2-11th. Residency will take place in Palm Desert, CA.
