Position description

DEPARTMENT OF RELIGIOUS STUDIES
PART-TIME LECTURER POSITIONS

The Department of Religious Studies at the University of California, Riverside, invites applications for part-time lecturer positions in Fall 2022, Winter 2023 and Spring 2023. Fall 2022 quarter begins September 19, 2022 and ends December 9, 2022. Winter 2023 quarter begins January 4, 2023 and ends March 24, 2023. Spring 2023 quarter begins March 29, 2023 and ends June 16, 2023.

Salary: $7146 per course (pending final budget approval).

Qualifications:

A completed M.A., preferably with PhD coursework or an Advancement to Doctoral candidacy (ABD), in Religious Studies or in a related field with specialization in the nonconfessional study of religion, comparative religions, religions in the U.S., Biblical studies, religion and culture, religion and race, and/or theories in the study of religion. Previous teaching experience at the college or university level is required, a stated commitment to working with students from groups under-represented in the academy. Preference will be given to candidates with a PhD in Religious Studies, or in a related field with specialization in the nonconfessional study of religion; specialization in one or more of the topics to be taught; experience as instructor of record in higher education; and experience working with students from groups under-represented in the academy. In addition, preference will be given to internal prior Pre-Six candidates.
