Position description

The Center for Latino and Latin American Studies invites applicants for a postdoctoral research fellowship focusing on the political economy of Latinos in the Inland Empire. We seek postdocs who have an organic interest in the Latino communities of the Inland Empire and could provide research related to the political economy of the region. We are especially interested in questions of global capitalism, Latino labor, Mexican and Central American remittances, migration, environmental justice, industrial gentrification, Mexican ranching communities, gender, and social movements, as well as work focused on the human, social and economic contradictions of regional development. The post doc is open to discipline in the social sciences and humanities broadly conceived. Applicants are expected to have a profile and research project that resonates with the Center’s mission and the goals of the Latinx Futures Grant.

Candidates need to have obtained a Ph.D. by the time of the start date, and should have scholarly expertise on topics related to the field in social sciences and humanities or related disciplines.

Application Procedure:

Applicants should provide 1) A two-page personal statement, 2) a two-page research statement and 3) Statement of past and/or planned future contributions to advancing diversity and inclusive excellence. 4) a CV 5) three references. The personal statement should address how the applicant's academic profile resonates with the Center’s mission and goals of the Latinx Futures Grant. The research statement should include a description of the proposed project and a detailed plan in research while in residence.

Review of applications will begin on June 27, 2022, and may continue until filled. To ensure full consideration, applications and supporting materials should be received by June 27, 2022. Post doc salary will be $55,632-$66,660 depending on the candidate's experience upon start. The appointment starts October 1, 2022 or as soon as possible and will be for one year. Selected candidates will be required to be present on campus during the 1 year appointment.

A Ph.D. is required at time of start date.
We seek postdocs who have an organic interest in the Latino communities of the Inland Empire and that could provide research related to the political economy of the region.
Scholarly expertise on topics related to the field social sciences and humanities.

Preferred qualifications

-Candidates who are interested in questions of Latino labor, labor markets, Mexican and Central American remittances, migration, gender, and social movements, as well as worked focused on the human, social and economic contradictions of regional development are preferred.
-Fluency in Spanish
