We seek an energetic, multi-talented applicant whose appointment will be part-time in the Department of Music (Lecturer) teaching Concert Band MUS 165 beginning Fall 2022. The successful candidate must have the skills to conduct Concert Band, offer imaginative programming, create new arrangements and be proficient on at least one band instrument. They should also be familiar with classic works from the extensive band and wind ensemble repertoire, transcriptions of symphonic pieces, and the finest new works for band and wind ensemble.

Fall Quarter instruction begins September 22 and ends December 2, 2022
Winter Quarter instruction begins January 9, 2023, and ends March 17
Spring Quarter instruction begins April 3 and ends June 9, 2023.
Salary: $6,938.75 per course per quarter. Reappointment is eligible for renewal depending on need, funding, and performance.
Internal candidates receive first consideration.
Duties: Teach one undergraduate course in Concert Band MUS 165 – Study and performance of literature for the concert band. The course is scheduled for Mondays and Wednesdays from 6-7:20 p.m. This course has a maximum enrollment of 90 students.
Qualifications: MA or MFA degree in Music.
Two years of experience teaching at the college level is required with three years preferred.

The Department of Music is housed in the College of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences on the Riverside campus of the University of California and offers the bachelor’s degree (BA) in music or music and culture, as well as master’s and doctoral degrees (with emphases in composition, ethnomusicology, and musicology). Departmental offices, classrooms, and performance spaces are located in the ARTS Building.
Qualifications
MA or MFA degree in Music. Two years of experience teaching at the college level is required.
