Position description

The Bourns College of Engineering, Department of Chemical and Environmental Engineering is seeking an Associate Specialist who will contribute to the research in Professor Yanran Li’s Laboratory and work within the scope of an interdisciplinary project “Reprogramming Plant Perception for Novel Plant Natural Products Discovery”.

The Associate Specialist will be responsible for engineering plant immune receptors with altered perception, implementation the chimeric immune receptors into plant, and investigation on the altered phenotype in the engineered plants using omics technology. A strong background in plant molecular biology and synthetic biology, particularly with plant signaling characterization, plant genetic engineering, functional genomics is required.

Associate Specialist, Step rank should possess a master’s degree (or equivalent degree) or five to ten years of experience demonstrating expertise in the relevant specialization.

Associate Specialists are normally expected to have a record of academic accomplishments, including contributions to published or in press research in the field and a demonstrated record of University and/or public service.
