The UCR School of Medicine invites nominations and applications for the position of Associate Dean for Student Affairs. Successful candidate will possess a MD, PhD, PharmD or equivalent degree in a health profession or basic science field. The incumbent will have a concurrent academic appointment in an appropriate department in the School of Medicine and participate in teaching and research or scholarly activities. Successful candidate must also have clear potential or demonstrated ability to work successfully with and benefit a diverse student body.

The successful applicant must qualify for an academic appointment in one of the following series: Professor of Clinical X or Health Sciences Clinical Professor series at the associate or full professor ranks, as well as demonstrated service related to medical student affairs and/or medical education for the position of Associate Dean for Student Affairs.

The Associate Dean for Student Affairs reports to the Senior Associate Dean for Student Affairs. The Office of Student Affairs is responsible for all student related activities (including student academic and professional success support, financial affairs, career advising, well-being, and activity programming), medical school admissions, and outreach, recruitment and pipeline programs. The Associate Dean will work closely with the Senior Associate Dean involved in all matters related to Student Affairs and will have major responsibility for medical school admissions, working closely with the Chair of Admissions committee and the admissions staff members. The Associate Dean will also assist in outreach and recruitment efforts, particularly with the various School of Medicine pipeline programs, which focus its efforts to enhance student success for high school, community college, undergraduate and post baccalaureate students. This position will include grant writing and philanthropy efforts to secure funding to support programming for these unique pipeline programs as well as scholarships for students.
