Position description

Position: Lecturer/Director of Photography to teach TFDP 171 – Technical Production in Winter 2020 and/or Spring 2020 Quarter

The Department of Theatre, Film, and Digital Production seeks 1-2 lecturers to serve as the instructor(s) of TFDP 171 – Technical Production and Director of Photography for our department short films produced in the 2020 Winter and/or Spring Quarter (Winter: January 7 – March 13; Spring: April 1 – June 5). One screenplay is filmed each quarter from original works written by current students of the UCR MFA in Creative Writing and Writing for the Performing Arts program or a student in the TFDP undergraduate major. The director of photography will teach undergraduate students how to use film equipment technology and function as a professional film crew. The instructor will also serve as the Director of Photography during filming and will supervise and teach the student crew. The Director of Photography will also work with a full production team comprised of UCR staff and students.

Salary: Approximately $9363.83 per course, per quarter

Required qualifications: MA, MFA, Ph.D. or equivalent experience (3 years professional and/or university directing experience).

Preferred qualifications: Teaching experience at the university level is desired. UCR is a world-class research university with an exceptionally diverse undergraduate student body.
