Position description

The Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of California, Riverside invites applications for an Assistant Project Scientist position. We are seeking a PhD-level research scientist with a degree in high energy experimental particle physics who has extensive training and experience in data analysis and triggering systems for detectors at the CERN Large Hadron Collider. The desired individual will have at least 4 years of research experience in LHC data analysis or other high energy accelerator experiments in the areas of searches for physics beyond the standard model and the physics of the Higgs boson. In addition to data analysis, the position will involve work with the CMS detector in level-1 trigger Phase-2 upgrades. The position requires experience in the preparation of manuscripts for publication and in mentoring undergraduate and graduate student research. A strongly preferred qualification is prior expertise in LHC detector level-1 trigger systems.

The position is contingent on funding. Depending on funding levels, the position could be part time only. Salary will be commensurate with experience. Applicants should provide a cover letter, CV, statement of research interest, contact details for three confidential referees, and a statement of contributions to diversity.
