Program Coordinator - Computer Science and Technology

In the Heart of Inland Southern California, UC Riverside is located on nearly 1,200 acres near Box Springs Mountain in Southern California; the park-like campus provides convenient access to the vibrant and growing Inland region. UCR Extension is the continuing and professional education division if the University of California, Riverside offering over 80 programs and certificates to domestic and international students. Extension is in need of a part-time Program Coordinator for the Computer Science and Technology Department. Reporting to Extension’s Director of Prfessional Programs, the Program Coordinator will assist in building a portfolio of certificates, programs, and class offerings in the Computer Science and Technology field. The individual selected for this position must have relevant and broad knowledge of the Computer Science and Technology industry and its many focus areas in order to make the desired contributions to the department’s growth efforts. Programmatic areas of study may include but are not limited to: Database Administration, Mobile Application Development, Web Development, Help Desk Technician, Blockchain, Artificial Intelligence, Malware Analysis, Cybersecurity, Network Administration, Video Game Design, Graphic Design, Health Information Systems, Healthcare Informatics, IT Security, Auto CAD Drafting, Software Engineering, IT Management, IT Project Management, Systems Analysis, Computer Programming, Data Science, User Interface Development, Computer Hardware Engineer, Computer Science, Computer Animation, Network Architecture, Systems Integration, Systems Engineering, and Robotics Engineering. The incumbent is expected to remain current on emerging technologies and trends, and present options for programming incorporation. This position will be expected to establish and/or foster relationships with professional membership associations and other community networks in order to develop a strong partnership model between UCR Extension and the computer science and technology industry.

Responsibilities include:

-Research, identify and present educational programming opportunities in the Computer Science and Technology field.
-Assist in curriculum development for current and prospective programs.
-Train and ensure consistent implementation of rubrics and curriculum for instructors.
-Participate in instructor recruitment process (screening, interview and selection). Make hiring recommendations to Professional Programs department leadership.
-Conduct Instructor Orientations and Information Sessions as needed
-Communicate expected learning outcomes of individual courses to instructors to ensure understanding of how they contribute to the overall certificate program outcomes.
-Compose and/or approve course syllabi and review for alignment with UCR Extension standards and UCR senate approved guidelines
-Review course evaluations and make instructional recommendations to Professional Programs department leadership.
-Strategically plan and schedule quarterly course offerings for all programs with support from the program coordinator.
-Promote and coordinate the programs and classes for certificates in the discipline area.
-Review student and employer survey results and make programmatic recommendations to Professional Programs department leadership
-Advise prospective students on career pathways
-Participate and provide leadership for Certificate Advisory Council meetings
-Participate in accreditation activities as needed according to the WASC accreditation cycle.
-Write and revise standards documents for accreditation review reports as needed

Minimum Qualifications:

-An advanced degree in a computer science and/or technology related discipline.
-Teaching experience in a continuing education environment
-Familiarity with distance education pedagogy
-Experience with curriculum design and assessment
-At least 5 years of work experience in computer science and technology
-Holds valid industry certification(s) demonstrating expertise on specific computer science and/or technology examinations (i.e. (CGEIT, AWS Solutions Architect/Developer, PMP, CISSP, CRISC, CISM, ScrumMaster, CEH, CCP-V, MCSE, CISA, CCNP, CCNA, Network +, CompTIA A+, & CCA-N, and other related examinations)

Preferred Qualification:

-Established relationships with professional membership associations/community networks in computer science and technology
-Understanding of continuing education requirements and/or training needs of computer science and technology professionals
-Commitment to UCR mission
-Certifications: (CGEIT, AWS Solutions Architect/Developer, PMP, CISSP, CRISC, CISM, -ScrumMaster, CEH, CCP-V, MCSE, CISA, CCNP, CCNA, Network +, CompTIA A+, & CCA-N or other related examinations)
