Assistant Project Scientist – Nabity Lab

The Nabity Lab at the University of California, Riverside seeks a full-time assistant project scientist with at least 5 years’ postdoctoral experience in insect molecular biology, effector gene annotation, and functional analyses of proteins using yeast-two hybrid assays. The applicant will continue work ongoing in insect effector identification, functional characterization, and assessment of evolutionary strategies. Duties include DNA/RNA sample preparation, genetic sequence assembly and curation, and functional validation of protein-protein interactions. The applicant will actively engage other lab members (undergraduate, graduate and visiting students) in scientific discourse, provide training in molecular biology and bioinformatics when relevant, and ensure a safe and friendly working environment during employment. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Entomology and more than 5 years’ postdoctoral experience in insect molecular genetics. Preference will be given to applicants with experience with galling insects including the Hessian fly and grape phylloxera.
