Description

The Graduate School of Education (GSOE) at the University of California, Riverside continues to develop its research and scholarly capacity through its nationally recognized faculty and maintain its place among the outstanding University of California institutions. We are growing steadily and seek highly productive and innovative faculty who are committed to preparing the next generation of higher education leaders and scholars. We invite applications and nominations for an assistant professor tenure-track faculty position in the area of Higher Education Administration and Policy. The position will commence as early as July 1, 2019 or as negotiated.

The UCR Higher Education Administration and Policy graduate program seeks to prepare student affairs and postsecondary leaders who understand and work to transform institutional structures, policies, and practices contributing to inequities in higher education and society. We seek candidates who have the capacity to be exemplary scholars in the field of higher and postsecondary education, including established early stage scholars, postdoctoral fellows, and recent doctoral degree recipients. Ideal candidates will demonstrate this commitment through higher education focused scholarship in two or more of the following broad areas (1) College access, equity, and inclusion, (2) Student affairs and non-traditional college student experiences, (3) Organizational and leadership studies, (4) Sociological and critical theories of race and racialization, (5) Policy, and (6) Finance and Financial Aid. Preference will be given to candidates with experience teaching both graduate and undergraduate students. Preference will be given to candidates with ability and interest in teaching methodology, finance, or policy courses focused on postsecondary institutions. The successful candidate will have a clear research agenda and the potential for or success in securing extramural research funding. Candidates who have experience or evidence of potential for quality teaching and student mentoring, and whose research agenda clearly demonstrates a scholarly commitment to equity will be given the highest consideration. An earned doctorate in higher education or a related social science discipline is required by July 2019. Salary and research support will be commensurate with an appointment within the University of California system.
