The University of California, Riverside (UCR) invites applications for a tenured appointment at the Associate or Full Professor level in Experimental Condensed Matter Physics starting Summer 2019. Candidates must possess a PhD in Physics; preference will be given to candidates with a demonstrated record of outstanding research in Condensed Matter Physics with an emphasis on functional electronic materials and devices. Successful candidates should have a proven track record of establishing an outstanding and well-funded research program involving students and postdoctoral scientists in forefront areas of functional electronic materials and devices, including but not limited to, synthesis of quantum materials in the form of bulk crystals or thin films and heterostructures, and novel physical properties of nanoscale electronic devices. This senior appointment is expected to complement our existing strength in the areas of spintronics, 2D-materials, nanoelectronics, nanophotonics and related fields, actively collaborate with the condensed matter theory faculty in our department and materials science faculty across the campus and organize multi-principal investigator research teams for extramural funding. The successful applicant is also expected to support the training of students of diverse backgrounds and teach at both undergraduate and graduate levels. UCR has excellent infrastructures to support cutting-edge materials science research such as the existing 2,000 sf cleanroom for nanofabrication and various state-of-the-art microanalysis tools and microscopes housed in shared central facilities. In addition, a nanofabrication facility expansion phase commences in Fall 2019.
