The University of California, Riverside's (UCR) Marlan and Rosemary Bourns College of Engineering (BCOE) currently has 129 faculty members, more than 2,500 undergraduates, 830 graduate students, more than $39 million in annual research expenditures, and is home to five departments, two college wide Interdepartmental programs and 10 research centers.
BCOE invites applicants for tenure-track faculty positions who will complement the highly motivated and entrepreneurial spirit of the College faculty, and who will contribute meaningfully to the success of future teaching, research, and service accomplishments. Incumbents are expected to initiate and sustain strong sponsored research and graduate training programs. The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering has over 30 faculty members. Over half of our senior faculty are fellows of IEEE, AAAS or other professional societies, and 11 junior faculty have been awarded Young Investigator/CAREER awards. The ECE department trains over 110 PhD students and receives annually over $7.5 million USD in research funding. It is currently ranked 24th in the scholarship metric by the National Research Council (NRC). Our focus areas include computer engineering, robotics, controls, computer vision and machine learning, intelligent systems, smart grids and energy, nano materials and devices, and signal processing and communications. Multiple ECE faculty collaborate with other faculty in the campus research centers, including the Center for Nanoscale Science & Engineering (CNSE), the Winston Chung Global Energy Center (WCGEC), and the College of Engineering’s Center for Environmental Research and Technology (CE-CERT).
Successful candidates will have a proven record of, or exceptional promise for, developing a vibrant externally-funded research program and developing a portfolio of high quality teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels. UC faculty will be expected to maintain an active research agenda and record of publications; teach a regular course load at both the undergraduate and graduate levels; and to participate in service activities at department, college campus, and professional levels. They should also demonstrate clear potential for complementing and/or synergistically leveraging existing research activities within the department, college and campus. Advancement through the faculty ranks at the University of California is through a series of structured, merit-based evaluations, occurring every 2-3 years, each of which includes substantial peer input.
Appointments are expected to begin July 1, 2019. Salary will be commensurate with education and experience.

Applicants must be "all but dissertation" or have met the requirements for the PhD by the time of appointment, July 1, 2019; have college level teaching experience, with a minimum one year teaching experience at undergraduate or graduate level.
